About Tabitha Hume


Tabitha Hume is a registered dietician (HPCSA Registration number: DT0011193), having completed the full 5 years of dietetics study and gained a BSc(MED)(HONS) Nutrition and Dietetics from UCT in 1995.

She owns and runs a private practice in Fourways, Johannesburg, giving private consultations to patients. She introduced South Africa to the concept of Syndrome X  and has 14 years of sound experience in the dietetic treatment of the following:

  • Obesity and weight loss
  • Childhood weight loss (focusing on psychological management without incorporating ‘losing weight’ as a goal)
  • Type 2 (Adult-onset) Diabetes
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
